CoachTools 25 Under 25 Spotlight: Rob McElhaney
We are excited to announce that Rob McElhaney has been selected as one of the distinguished young coaches in the CoachTools 25 Under 25 program!
Rob’s coaching journey exemplifies his dedication and skill in the field of football. As the defensive line coach at New Mexico Highlands University (NMHU), Rob has made significant contributions to the team and the student-athletes. Coach Smetanka praised Rob for his positive impact, highlighting his role in recruiting and his innovative ideas for day-to-day operations.
Rob’s experience extends beyond NMHU. He spent two successful seasons at Valdosta State University, where he served as an offensive and special teams assistant in 2021 and assistant defensive line coach/special teams coach in 2022. During his tenure, Valdosta State achieved a remarkable 17-8 record and reached the NCAA Division II National Championship game in 2022.
Rob’s coaching career began at Slippery Rock University, where he worked as a student assistant and later as the head student assistant. His contributions helped Slippery Rock secure a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championship and two NCAA playoff appearances, including a trip to the semifinals.
New Mexico Highlands University, founded in 1893, is a public university with satellite campuses across New Mexico. With an average annual enrollment of approximately 3,000 students, NMHU offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate degree programs across six schools and colleges.
